Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State arrived at the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) headquarters early Friday morning to challenge police attempt to seize control of the premises.

The governor said he received information that the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DC) in charge of operations had sent officers to replace the policemen already stationed at RSIEC.

Earlier, Governor Fubara had declared a two-day public holiday to facilitate the election, which he insists must take place on Saturday.
