On Saturday, Justice Adolphus Enebeli (retd.), Chairman of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission and Chief Electoral Commissioner for the election, declared 22 chairmanship candidates from the Action Peoples Party as winners of the local government elections held on October 5, 2024.
Announcing the results in Port Harcourt, Enebeli stated that the candidates secured the majority of valid votes in two-thirds of their respective wards across 22 local governments.
However, the commission has withheld the chairmanship result for Etche Local Government Area due to its extensive size and 19 wards, which caused delays in the collation process.
