Suspended Rivers State Governor, Sir Similanayi Fubara, has vacated the Government House in Port Harcourt as the newly appointed Sole Administrator, Admiral Ekwe Ibas (rtd), prepares to assume office.
Sources told Daily Trust that Fubara moved out on Wednesday morning following the federal government’s declaration of a state of emergency in the state.
A visit to the Government House by reporters revealed a calm atmosphere, with at least three armoured personnel carriers stationed at the main entrance.

A security source confirmed a change of guard, stating that all previous security details had been removed and replaced.
“The governor left Government House this morning, and the new administrator is yet to resume. We are expecting him any moment from now. The security details in Government House have been reshuffled. I can tell you that everywhere is calm and nothing is happening as we speak now,” the source stated.
Meanwhile, residents of Port Harcourt are carrying on with their daily activities, with no signs of unrest.
Chief Bola Tinubu declared a state of emergency in Rivers State on Tuesday, citing the vandalization of pipelines and the failure of political stakeholders to resolve the ongoing crisis despite several interventions.
