Senator Kenneth Eze, representing Ebonyi Central Senatorial Zone, has stated that the removal of fuel subsidies by the federal government has made sufficient funds available for both federal and state governments to operate efficiently.
The Senator, who serves as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Information, made this assertion during his one-year constituency briefing held in his hometown, Ohaigbo Amagu, in Ezza South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
Senator Eze acknowledged that while the effects of the subsidy removal might be challenging for Nigerians, the overall benefits would become evident in due time.
He emphasized that the fuel removal decision was necessary to prevent the government from running out of resources, particularly for state operations.
He urged citizens to exercise patience, noting that the economic issues currently facing the country did not originate from Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration but have been accumulating over several years.
Eze stated, “The fuel removal was an unavoidable measure to prevent the government from running out of resources.
“States in particular could not have seen funds to run its operations if the subsidy was not removed. I join other leaders in the country to urge the citizens to be patient”.
He explained that the economic problems Nigeria is facing currently did not begin with the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu but had built up for several years.
“Nigerians should know that the leaders feel their pains but with time, the policies of the present administration would manifest fully and things would be better.
He added, “It takes a courageous and responsive government to take endearing economic policies which would not only correct the mistakes of the past but would secure the citizens future.”#fuel
