Arnoldo Jimenez, a fugitive on the FBI’s 10 Most Wanted list for allegedly killing his wife, Estrella Carrera, on their wedding night in Illinois over 12 years ago, has been arrested in Mexico.
FBI agents took Jimenez into custody Friday night in Monterrey, Mexico, during a coordinated operation involving FBI teams from Chicago, San Antonio, and LEGAT Mexico City, along with the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
“The FBI is extremely appreciative of the Burbank Police Department, our law enforcement partners in Mexico, and the public for their tremendous investigative efforts and collaboration in the capture of Ten Most Wanted Fugitive Arnoldo Jimenez,” Douglas S. DePodesta, special agent in charge of the FBI’s Chicago Field Office, said in a statement.

“The FBI will use all of its available resources to bring criminals to justice, no matter how much time has passed or where they may be in the world.”
According to the FBI, Jimenez allegedly murdered his then-wife, Carrera, on May 12, 2012—just one day after their wedding.
He is accused of fatally stabbing Carrera and dragging her body into the bathtub of their apartment in Burbank, Illinois.
In 2019, Jimenez was added to the FBI’s Most Wanted Fugitive list.
He will now be extradited to the United States to stand trial for the alleged murder of his ex-wife.
