Tragedy struck the Adijah community in Ugbokpo, Apa Local Government Area of Benue State, on Thursday afternoon as suspected herdsmen reportedly launched a deadly assault.
Reports indicate that several individuals are feared dead, with others sustaining injuries in the attack.
It was reported that the assailants descended on the village, situated near the Otukpo-Oweto Road, and unleashed gunfire on unsuspecting residents. The precise number of casualties remains undisclosed at this time.
A resident of the community revealed that the attack prompted villagers to flee to neighbouring communities in a bid to escape the violence.
