Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George, has taken a swipe at the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, describing his recent remarks about the PDP as offensive and deeply disrespectful.
George, speaking in an interview on Arise TV, reacted strongly to Wike’s claim that the PDP did not significantly influence his political trajectory. He labelled the statement a “disgusting abomination,” urging Wike to reconsider his position and acknowledge the structures that supported his rise.
“The comment of the young man (Wike), because he is the same age as my first son, to me it’s a disgusting abomination,” George stated.

According to George, the PDP’s legacy and organisational strength cannot be dismissed by those who benefited from its platform. He said the party remains a symbol of political resilience, describing it as an “iroko tree” that has weathered storms.
Referencing Macbeth, George reflected on the fleeting nature of authority and human pride: “Life’s but a walking shadow, a poor player, that struts and frets his hour upon the stage and then is heard no more.”
He further argued that Wike’s attempt to downplay the PDP’s role is both ungrateful and intellectually dishonest, particularly considering the support the party gave him throughout his time as governor of Rivers State.
“You are now saying that it is the individual that has the capacity, but my young man, look, if you see any ballot box, did you see the names of any individuals written on the ballot papers?” he asked.

George drew a sharp contrast between the PDP and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), stressing that the former was built on collective ownership and internal democracy, not dominated by any one individual. “Our party is not like APC, owned by an individual. Our party was established with rules and regulations. There’s no individual who owns this party (PDP),” George said.
He added that the PDP’s Board of Trustees plays a crucial role in maintaining party discipline and unity, especially when members go against its values. “We own the party; we own the assets and the liabilities of the party. When people start to misbehave, it is the responsibility of the members of the board of trustees to knock everybody back in line,” he said.
As internal tension brews within the PDP, George’s comments reflect growing unease over loyalty and the future direction of the party. Yet he chose not to focus solely on Wike, steering attention to the party’s enduring relevance.

“I don’t want to waste my time talking about Wike, as I had told you, that is a disgusting abomination… I would like to talk about our party — the future of our party, the strength of our party, and the need to convince Nigerians that this our party is in a much better position to handle the problems that are plaguing every Nigerian,” he said.
George concluded with a note of assurance, reiterating the PDP’s track record and potential to meet the needs of Nigerians: “We have the records, the capacity to deliver the goods to the people of Nigeria.”
