A local Keke driver has chosen to join the ongoing #EndBadGovernanceProtest despite receiving a cash gift of 5,000 Naira yesterday to do otherwise.
He revealed in a video, stating that he had been actively involved in facilitating the distribution of the money given to residents in the Apo Resettlement Area, Abuja.
According to the driver, several individuals arrived in the area to distribute the funds, which led him to assist others in collecting their share.
Despite the financial incentive, he made a personal decision to participate in the protest against poor governance.
“I am among those who received 5,000. They gave it to me yesterday at the town hall. They gathered people and handed out 5,000 naira to each person, and I was one of them. I am a Keke man and I transported many people there, who also received 5,000 naira.
“They instructed us not to protest. The AMAC chairman came with others to distribute the money. Anyone who showed up received 5,000 and was told not to participate in the protest.
“They said people were trying to cause problems during the protest, so they used the 5,000 to prevent us from demonstrating.
“After that, yesterday they started shooting tear gas at us. Today, they began firing live ammunition.” the driver said in the video.
The #EndBadGovernanceProtest continues to gain momentum as more individuals join in to demand better leadership and transparency from their government.
