God Not Happy with Nigeria Over Terrorist Attacks, Killings—A’Ibom Cleric

His Lordship Marshall Edidem, the Custodian of the Spiritual Kingdom Church of Christ Mission in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, has urged for continuous prayers and fasting to seek God’s intervention in the ongoing crisis in Jos, Plateau State.

Emphasizing the effectiveness of prayers in averting severe calamities in the past, he lamented the recent attack on over 200 innocent lives in Jos during the Christmas Eve by unidentified gunmen.

Speaking to our correspondent in the state capital, Uyo, on Thursday, as the church commemorated its Founder Day, Edidem stressed that only through sustained prayers and fasting can a solution be found for the crisis in Jos.

“Nigerians have to fast and pray and ask God for intervention in the Jos crisis. It is sustained prayers to God that will bring an end to the crises in Jos. There will surely be a way out of the crises and God will certainly bring the solution to it,” he said.

Edidem clarified that the church commemorated this year’s Founder Day on January 2.

He noted that the day has been observed annually since 1946, when the church was established with the purpose of offering prayers for peace across the country.

“January 2, every year is our Founder’s Day. It is the day we gather to pray for peace in Nigeria and the leadership of our nation so that God will lead our leaders aright. During this time, we offer prayers for peace in our country,” he added.

Obong Samuel Edidem, the Chief Priest of the church, expressed his thoughts on Founder’s Day, lamenting the prevailing hardships in the country.

He said that a transformative shift in the challenging situation could only come about through divine intervention.

Edidem urged Nigerians not solely to attribute certain calamities to the government, asserting that some are consequences of divine displeasure.

He added, “Hardship is everywhere in Nigeria. It is only through the power of God that peace can come to Nigeria or hardship can be reduced. Many people may blame the government for the hardships we are going through, but it may not be the government.
