Amid Economic Hardship, Gov Idris Gifts Kebbi Lawmakers 24 New SUVs

Amidst challenges like hunger and high living costs ravaging the country, Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has provided 24 brand new Toyota Fortuner Jeeps to members of the Kebbi State House of Assembly.

During the handover ceremony at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday, Arewa Punch observed the governor, stating that the vehicles were intended to facilitate the official duties of the lawmakers.

According to a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Ahmed Idris, Governor Idris commended the collaborative work between the executive and legislative branches.

He noted that this cooperation had facilitated the smooth implementation of various development projects directly impacting the lives of residents.

The statement also conveyed the governor’s encouragement for lawmakers to maintain a positive and cooperative relationship, emphasizing that such unity would foster further rapid growth and development in the state.

The statement which read in parts noted, “I must state here that I enjoy the harmonious relationship existing between us, I have never had any disagreement with the Speaker, nor did I have it with any of the Honourable members.

“This has actually helped us to execute and spread projects across all Emirates for the benefit of our people,” he said.

The governor remembered that he had procured and allocated 30 fresh vehicles to security agencies, 28 to Commissioners, and now, “we are observing the allocation of 24 brand-new Toyota Fortuner Jeeps to Kebbi State House of Assembly members.” Governor Idris emphasized that his administration chose new vehicles to prevent any operational failures during official duties.

He encouraged the recipients to utilize the vehicles wisely for their intended purposes.
