Gov Yusuf Appoints Ganduje, Kwankwaso into Kano Council of Elders

Kano State Governor Abba Yusuff has officially instituted the Kano Elders Council, a consultative body designed to offer insights and recommendations on matters of governance.

The governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin Tofa, disclosed this development on Sunday, following Yusuff’s recent confirmation as governor by the Supreme Court.

The newly established council is set to benefit from a diverse pool of expertise, comprising former governors, deputy governors, senate presidents, and other eminent figures who have played key roles in the political and judicial arenas within the state.

Dawakin Tofa emphasized the wealth of experienced individuals within the state, highlighting the numerous elders and former leaders who have not only reached the zenith of their careers but also remain actively engaged and in good health.

Prominent personalities enlisted in the council include former Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, currently serving as the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The council’s composition extends to retired justices from the Supreme Court and the Appeal Court, former Chief Justices of the state, Secretaries to the State Government, Heads of State Civil Service, all of whom hail from Kano State.

Additionally, the council will encompass leaders from the Ulamas (religious scholars), the business community, traditional rulers, and former heads of security agencies originating from Kano State. The government plans to appoint additional distinguished elders to complement the council, as stated in the official announcement.
