Govt Officials Have Now Turned Banditry to Business Venture – Gov Radda Alleges

Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, asserted that certain government officials and security personnel are complicit in exacerbating insecurity, particularly, the issue of banditry across the nation.

These allegations were voiced during his appearance on the program “Politics Today” on Channels Television last Friday.

The governor added that it has become difficult to end banditry in Nigeria, saying it is now a “business venture.”

He said, “Now it has turned out to be a business venture. A business venture for the criminals who are in government; some people who are in security outfits and some people who are responsible for the day-to-day activities of their people.

“These are so many reasons why we are unable to bring banditry to an end.”

The governor, however, emphasized that the motives driving banditry are not political in nature.

He said, “The hypothesis behind political motives being responsible for banditry is not true.”

The governor disclosed further that many “northern youths are recruited into banditry with a mere N500.”
