The family of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has voiced fresh worries regarding his declining health amidst allegations of government expenditure.

Concerns over Kanu’s well-being have intensified, prompting his family to urge for urgent medical attention to avert a potential health crisis.

In a statement released by the family spokesperson, Prince Emmanuel Kanu, on Saturday, it was revealed that the family is troubled by reports claiming that the Nigerian government spends a staggering N800 million each time Kanu is brought to court.

The family of the IPOB Leader is demanding transparency regarding the beneficiaries of these alleged funds and how they are being utilized.

Expressing deep apprehension over Kanu’s health, the family disclosed that the pro-Biafra agitator has been denied access to his personal doctors and urgently requires the attention of a cardiologist.

The family spokesperson of the IPOB Leader stated, “Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has finally become a money-minting venture for a few corrupt individuals in the corridors of power.

“We heard that government spends N800 million each time he is brought to court. Then, we want to know who the beneficiaries of the said money are?

“Government should tell the people who collects and spends the money, and on what.

“Our fear is that if it’s true that such humongous amount of money were spent on bringing him to court any time he is to appear, then it may be impossible to grant him bail any time soon because the cabal benefiting from his continued incarceration may not be willing to let go of their oil well.”

Moreover, the family criticized the Igbo political class for purportedly neglecting Kanu and called upon the international community to intervene and pressurize the Nigerian government for his release.

The statement added, “We just got information that he is critically down.

“He has not been granted access to his personal doctors, and he urgently needs cardiologist. He should not be allowed to die in DSS custody.”

The family, once again, called on the international community, to prevail on the Nigerian Government to release the IPOB Leader who, it said, “is unjustly held for demanding the freedom of his Biafra people”.

Notably, Kanu has remained in solitary confinement at the Abuja headquarters of the Department of State Services, DSS, since June 21 when he was abducted and renditioned from Kenya.
