Millions of Nigerians were left in darkness on Monday night after a nationwide failure of the country’s electricity system.
Electricity distributors reported that they stopped receiving power from the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) around 7:00 p.m., just as millions of people were returning home from work.
Abuja Electricity Distribution Company stated that the outage began at 6:58 p.m. and reassured customers that efforts were being intensified to resolve the issue.
The exact cause of the system collapse was not immediately known, and a spokesperson for the TCN was unavailable for comment.
