A group known as the Nigerian Youths in Politics has formally called on the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) to take immediate disciplinary action against Kano State Attorney General, Haruna Dederi.

The call for sanctions comes in response to Dederi’s recent allegations suggesting that the justices of the Appeal Court, who delivered the judgment on Kano State’s governorship election, were compromised.

National President of the group, Magaji Alidu, while addressing the media during a press conference held in Abuja on Sunday, Alidu emphasized the need for prompt action to uphold the integrity of the legal profession.

Alidu stated, “The Attorney General of Kano State who is a lawyer also joined in the bastardisation of the image of the Honourable Justices who delivered judgment of the Kano State governorship appeal.

“Such action is highly unprofessional and required immediate sanction by the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), in order to retain the integrity of the legal profession.

“The negative campaign being championed by the NNPP and Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State should be stopped,” he added.

The group’s spokesperson issued a warning to political actors, particularly those attempting to manipulate the law to suit their interests, emphasizing the sacred nature of the judiciary.

“The Supreme Court is their target, they are castigating the Appeal Court Justices to blackmail the Honourable Justices of the Supreme Court to subvert justice. Democracy has come of age and the judiciary is not cash and carry as the Attorney General of Kano State portrays,” Alidu concluded. #NBA
