Gunmen Invade University Of Calabar Hostel, Abduct Three Students

Three medical students from the University of Calabar (UNICAL) in Cross River State, South-South Nigeria, have been kidnapped by unidentified gunmen according to reports from the News Agency of Nigeria.

The incident took place on Thursday night, as confirmed by the police.

The abducted students have been identified as Ojang Precious Ebejin, a 200-level student of the Department of Medicine and Surgery; Ugwu Chukwuemeka, a 300-level student of the Department of Genetics and Biotechnology; and Damilola Dickson, a final-year student of the same department.

SP Irene Ugbo, the spokesperson for the Cross River State Police Command, confirmed the abduction and stated that the command, in collaboration with other security agencies, has initiated a manhunt to apprehend the perpetrators and secure the release of the victims.

The abduction occurred at one of the university’s hostels within the campus premises on Thursday night, although no further details were provided by Ugbo.

According to the police spokesman, “The police are working in collaboration with other agencies to rescue the students.”
