Harassing Journalists Who Expose Institutional Corruption Is Shameful and Anti-Democratic—Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour

Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate in Lagos State election, has expressed disappointment in the way Nigerian journalist who expose the ills ongoing in the society are harassed.

His outburst comes following the arrest of Nigerian investigative journalist Fisayo Soyombo who was reportedly arrested and detained by the Nigerian Army’s 6th Division in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Rhode-Vivour made this known in a post he shared on his official X handle.

He wrote,”I’m utterly disgusted by the arrest and detention of@fisayosoyombo in PH allegedly by officers of the Nigerian Army.

“I condemn this unlawful detention and demand his immediate release. Hounding and harassing journalists who expose institutional corruption is shameful and anti democratic.

“We cannot have a country where journalism is criminalized and corruption is glorified. #FreeFisayoNow,” he added.
