According to Comrade Timi Frank, a former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should stop trying so hard to stop the release of his academic records from Chicago State University (CSU). He said this on Friday.
In a statement made in Abuja, Frank asked Tinubu what he was trying to hide by quickly appealing the decision of a US Magistrate Court that told CSU to share his academic records.
Supposedly, Tinubu begged a US judge to protect him from “severe and irreparable damage” by putting an immediate stop to a recent court ruling that his university records should be made public.
His lawyer said that the president would be hurt so badly that it would be impossible to fix if the order to give Atiku Abubakar, Nigeria’s former vice president, his school records wasn’t put off so that he could go on vacation.
The lawyer for Bola Tinubu told Judge Nancy Maldonado of the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois in Chicago that releasing the records would cause “severe and irreparable harm to Bola Tinubu.” This was said in an emergency appeal.
His lawyer also said, “If the records are made public, harm will be done and cannot be taken back to the bottle.”
“If you know your academic records are clean, why are you fighting to keep them from being made public?”
If the records are made public, what “severe and irreparable harm” will you face? Frank asked.
He said that most world leaders are now avoiding Tinubu because of how desperately he is trying to hide his academic records and other legal problems with his personality. This, he said, has slowed down his administration’s much-talked-about investment drive abroad.
“For example, his much-talked-about meeting with Vice President Joe Biden of the United States during the UN General Assembly in New York was quietly canceled, and neither Biden nor Tinubu gave any reason.”
The US intelligence service did tell Biden to avoid that meeting, though, so we know for sure.
“Also, Tinubu said he got the United Arab Emirates (Dubai) to stop limiting Nigerians’ ability to get visas, but this turned out to be a lie.”
He told Nigerians that they should take up the fight to make sure that the president’s academic records are real and not leave it up to one person because it could hurt Nigeria’s reputation politically and diplomatically if it is ignored.
A politician named Frank said, “This fight shouldn’t just be for Atiku Abubakar.” Nigerians need to speak out and demand to know what jobs their president has had in the past.
“The recent appeal Tinubu made to buy time is a huge embarrassment to Nigerians both at home and in the diaspora.” Why does the President think that the court’s order to share Tinubu’s school records is so important?
“Tinubu, please stop making Nigerians look bad by threatening to kill anyone who gets your academic records out. Nigerians want to know the truth about their president.
“The more you try to hide your academic records, the worse the country looks and the less likely it is to attract investors who want to do business with honest people and not people who are thought to have dirty secrets.”
“Don’t Nigerians have the right to know what their president’s real academic credentials are?”
He asked the US government and its institutions to make a clear decision about this case that would help Nigeria and not just one person.
He said, “We demand that the Chicago court hear this appeal right away and make its decision public without putting the American Court system at risk.”
