A violent clash between rival groups of hoodlums in the Ile-Epo area of Lagos State resulted in multiple injuries and widespread damage.
According to reports, the confrontation began on Wednesday night within the local market and extended into Thursday morning.
During the altercation, several shops were set ablaze, and merchandise was vandalized.
Correspondents who visited the scene of the unrest, learned that police efforts to intervene early on were thwarted by the aggressive actions of the hoodlums.
In a troubling development, a fire service truck that arrived at the market the following morning was forced to retreat after being attacked with stones by the rioters.
