The Wells Carlton Hotel, Abuja, where the African Democratic Congress (ADC) unveiling is to be held, has abruptly cancelled the booking of the venue less than 24 hours before the event.
A message from the hotel management blamed the cancellation on an “internal compliance matter”.
It said, “We sincerely regret to inform you that due to an internal compliance matter that has just come to our attention, we are unable to proceed with hosting your scheduled event.”
However, details have emerged that the hotel’s unreasonable action may be connected to the allegation that it served as Nyesom Wike’s residence for nearly a year after he was appointed as a Minister.
This was made known in a post shared by a Twitter user, Royalty Uyo.

The post reads, “The venue for the coalition’s unveiling has been withdrawn by the host hotel under a flimsy pretext.
“Given that the Wells Carlton Hotel, Abuja, served as Wike’s residence for nearly a year after he was appointed as a Minister, it is not far-fetched to conclude that this cancellation was carried out at his behest.”
Meanwhile, there have been indications that the cancellation was not made out of a good heart, and as such, termed a flimsy excuse.
