A devastating fire broke out at a grain market located in the Gombi area of Adamawa State, resulting in the destruction of 1,900 bags of grain with an estimated value running into millions of naira.
The incident occurred on Thursday evening, engulfing 19 shops in the market. Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire may have been triggered by a burning cigarette discarded into the nearby bush behind the shops, although the perpetrator remains unknown.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, represented by his deputy, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, expressed condolences during a visit to the palace of the district head of Gombi, Usman Ibrahim Sarkinfada, on Saturday.
