Burkina Faso Military Leader Ibrahim Traore Slashes Medical Bills by Over 50% for Citizens

In a groundbreaking move, Captain Ibrahim Traore, Burkina Faso’s military leader, has initiated sweeping changes to combat the nation’s exorbitant healthcare expenses.

Traore recently announced a significant reduction in the prices of vital medical examinations and procedures across the country.

This was confirmed by the Minister in charge of Health, Robert Lucien

This decisive action, undertaken by the government, aims to alleviate the longstanding financial strain faced by citizens in accessing essential healthcare services.

The measure is poised to have a transformative impact on the Burkinabe populace, particularly those residing in rural areas where healthcare accessibility has been a persistent challenge.

One of the most notable reforms introduced by the government is the elimination of exorbitant fees for dialysis sessions.

Previously burdened with a staggering cost of 500,000 CFA francs, patients requiring dialysis will now be integrated into the program without any financial barriers.

Moreover, individuals needing three dialysis sessions per week will no longer incur charges for these vital treatments, marking a significant relief for those grappling with medical expenses.

In a clear demonstration of the government’s commitment to affordable healthcare, Traore’s administration has announced a substantial reduction in the cost of hemodialysis sessions. Slashing the price from 15,000 CFA francs to a mere 2,500 CFA francs per session, the move is poised to make crucial medical services more accessible to the Burkinabe population.

Furthermore, the government has undertaken measures to lower the expenses associated with advanced medical diagnostics. The cost of an MRI examination, previously priced at an exorbitant 100,000 CFA francs, has been drastically reduced to just 40,000 CFA francs, rendering it more accessible to those in need. Similarly, the price of a scanner has been halved from 50,000 CFA francs to a mere 25,000 CFA francs, further facilitating access to essential diagnostic procedures.

Captain Ibrahim Traore’s bold reforms represent a significant stride towards ensuring universal access to quality healthcare services in Burkina Faso. By addressing the prohibitive costs associated with medical care, the government is championing the well-being of its citizens and laying the foundation for a healthier, more equitable society.

According to Lucien, “By reducing the prices of these services, the government is taking concrete steps to address these issues and ensure that everyone has access to quality health care. Patients requiring dialysis sessions no longer have to pay the outrageous fee of 500,000 CFA francs to be integrated into the program. ‘

“In furtherance of its commitment to adding affordable healthcare services, the government has also announced that the cost of hemodialysis will be reduced from 15,000 CFA francs to just 2,500 CFA francs per session.
