Two domestic staff members of Mrs. Olakunbi Adene, the late CEO of Kitchen Country, have confessed to their involvement in her brutal murder.
The tragic incident occurred on a Thursday evening at her residence in Akure.
According to one of the suspects, he, along with the driver, a personal assistant, and an accomplice, visited Mrs. Adene’s home that evening.
Mrs. Adene had prepared a meal for them, which they shared before launching their horrific attack.
The suspects revealed that they gagged Mrs. Adene and used two large machetes they had brought to decapitate her.
The noise of a running generator between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. reportedly masked the sounds of the vicious assault. After covering her head with a duvet, they continued to assault her, severing her wrist and leg.
In addition to the machete attack, the other two suspects used knives to stab Mrs. Adene in the stomach, chest, and breasts, resulting in severe injuries and leaving her body covered in deep wounds.
The assault was so brutal that her intestines were reportedly exposed.
In a bid to cover their tracks and make the incident appear as an accident, the suspects attempted to create a fire by lighting the gas in the kitchen and opening the gas cylinder, hoping for an explosion.
However, the gas cylinder failed to ignite as they had planned.
This tragic incident has sent shockwaves through the community, as Mrs. Adene was a well-known figure in Akure.
The police have since apprehended the suspects, and investigations are ongoing to bring all involved to justice.
