Former Kaduna lawmaker and renowned social critic, Senator Shehu Sani has asserted on Monday that the prevailing economic challenges in Nigeria should not be attributed to divine intervention but rather to human factors.

The statement comes in the wake of an incident at the Zonal Office of the Nigerian Customs Service in Yaba, Lagos, where a massive crowd gathered to purchase discounted 25kg bags of rice, resulting in a stampede that claimed some lives.

In a post on his official X handle, Sani emphasised that Nigeria possesses abundant natural resources that surpass those of many other nations.

Senator Sani highlighted the country’s vast potential, pointing out the existence of over 200 rivers and an expansive arable land of 923,768 square kilometers. He underscored that Nigeria is endowed with natural resources not found in other countries and has a population of virile men and fertile women, surpassing many African nations.

He articulated, , “There are over 200 rivers in this country and we have a well nourished arable land of 923,768 kmsq. We have the natural resources that other countries will never have. We have virile men and fertile women more than any other country in our continent.

“We have no earthquakes, hurricanes or monsoon. What can grow in Thailand, Pakistan or Brazil can grow in this country. We want manna. Even the people who received the last plates of manna from Heaven have now turned their Desert Green. Our problem is not from God,” Sani added.
