In a tragic turn of events, a woman lost her life in Ado-Ekiti, allegedly at the hands of her jealous husband. The incident was confirmed by the police on Saturday.
According to Sunday Abutu, a spokesman for the Ekiti police, the murder occurred on Saturday and is currently under investigation.
Reportedly, the couple, who hailed from Ado-Ekiti, locked themselves inside their bedroom during a heated argument. The husband, said to be a law-enforcement agent, and his wife, who worked at a chemist shop, engaged in a confrontation fueled by accusations of infidelity.
A neighbor, who preferred to remain anonymous, recounted the chilling sequence of events. “The man had earlier accused the deceased of infidelity… Some of the peace-makers had to break through the ceiling in the house to gain access into the room only to find the deceased and the man badly injured.”
The neighbor further disclosed that the couple had sent their elder child on an errand as a diversion, leaving their five-year-old child in the room with them. After what seemed like a fierce exchange, both the husband and wife suffered severe injuries from stab wounds.

“The woman looked unconscious and was rushed out of the house, but she gave up the ghost before getting to the hospital,” the neighbor lamented.
As the situation unfolded, the matter was promptly reported to the police. The husband, critically injured, was swiftly taken to a hospital for medical attention, under the close supervision of law enforcement authorities.
