Hypocrisy: Nigerians Knock Pastor Adefarasin for Commenting on Trump Assassination Attempt But Silent on 2023 Elections Characterized by Bloodshed, Hooliganism in Lagos

Founder and Senior Pastor of the House On The Rock church, Paul Adefarasin has received tons of disparaging remarks from aggrieved Nigerians for sending consoling message to Donald Trump over the rally shooting in Pennsylvania while keeping mute over the outcome of the 2023 election.

Adefarasin took to his X handle on Sunday to write a consoling message. His words partly read, “We are thankful to God for the survival of former President Donald J. Trump without fatal injury.

“We extend our condolences to the family of the deceased spectator and offer our prayers for the injured. Our prayers remain for a speedy and total recovery of former President Trump.

“We applaud the rapid response of the Secret Service and are grateful that the assassination attempt failed.

“Our prayers are with both candidates and the democratic process in America. As Africans, we draw inspiration from the American democratic process.”

However, this message didn’t go down well with Nigerians who saw his speech as an act of hypocrisy.

They therefore attacked the pastor over his remark on Twitter. One of them, Aji Bussu Onye Mpiawa azụ wrote, “Pastor, despite the political violence in 2023 General elections in Lagos, where you pastor & have your headquarters, there was/has been no condemnation from you, even with video evidence and reports from EU observers. Nevertheless, carry on, sir. We all know what we are doing.”

Another Twitter user, Spotlight Abby, tweeted thus, “Just like DJ Cuppy, Mr. Paul Adefarasin shows his focus and the elections that matter to him. The political violence happening every day and everywhere in Nigeria don’t matter. After all, Africa is just a harvest ground for resources, tithes and offerings, for these “superior” mortals.”

Omega X D wrote “Pastor Paul, 48hrs two to three building collapsed in Nigeria. I haven’t seen a tweet from you sending condolences to the victims. Bandits kidnapped hundreds of innocent people, NO word from you. I condemn the attempt trying to assassinate the former president Donald trump. Sorry Sir, Charity begins at home!!!.”

DISTINGUISHED KPMG LinkedIn Everest, tweeted, “First thing in the morning you are standing against violence during a Democratic process. In Nigeria, a woman was almost blinded. People were killed. MC Oluomo publicly threatened voters. Not a word from you to condemn it.Oh!!! I forgot. Maybe US is your plan B.”

Queen Bee further wrote, “Mr Saul must come, you’re a shame, a disgrace to your mother country & the Church. Your hypocrisy stinks and will continue to stink. You never condemned the high scale v!0lence & k!ll!ngs that marred the 2023 elections in Nigeria, but quick to condemn it in The United States.”

Another user, General Snow also wrote, “We have the highest concentration of useless pastors on the face of the earth. You hypocrite.”

Mavis Ikpeme wrote, “Blind to the chaos that happened in Nigeria during the election , active for America . Is this not the hypocrisy Jesus preached against?.”

Lots of comments are still piling in regarding Adefarasin’s speech, which has triggered anger and hatred for the ‘so-called pastor ‘.
