2027: “I am Contesting for President and Nobody is Better Than Me!” — Peter Obi Boldly Reaffirms Political Ambition

Labour Party leader and former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, has once again made his presidential ambition clear, declaring during a campaign rally in Anambra that he will contest in the next election and that no one is better qualified than he.

Obi made the statement while campaigning alongside the Labour Party’s governorship candidate, George Moghalu, in Anambra on Friday. In a 1:05-minute video shared by X user @OkoyeCardinal (Nwoke Agulu), Obi addressed the crowd with calm defiance and confidence.

“Everyone has the right to contest for president. I don’t tell anyone not to contest. But if anyone asks you, tell them that I am contesting for president and nobody is better than me,” he said.

The remark was greeted with loud cheers from the crowd, many of whom had come out in support of both Obi and Moghalu.

The declaration comes amid renewed calls from some quarters for Obi to step down from his ambition or play second fiddle in future alliances. The comment also indirectly responded to suggestions that he should serve as a running mate to PDP’s Atiku Abubakar.

Social media reactions to the video further amplified support for Obi’s message. @mbonu_jerry noted, “You didn’t add that he, @PeterObi, said he is contesting for the presidency with his full chest.” @ChijiokeIke3 wrote, “All those who have been asking Peter Obi to come be Atiku’s VP—breakfast is served.”

Meanwhile, others like @Tkoy2025 kept their message direct: “We’re voting Labour Party.”

The former governor’s appearance in Anambra signals a fresh phase of his grassroots engagement ahead of 2027, as he continues to attract support across Nigeria, particularly from youths and middle-class voters disenchanted with the ruling APC and disorganized PDP.
