‘I Have No Godfather’, Senator Natasha Reacts After New Appointment

Following her recent appointment as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Local Content and Vice Chairman on Steel, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, said Almighty God is her only godfather, pledging to leverage her intellectual prowess and legal background in the new position.

Besides disowning a godfather, Senator Natasha also expressed gratitude to the judicial system for facilitating the restoration of her mandate as the rightful senator-elect and extended sympathy to fellow Senators who recently lost their legal battles.

Describing herself as a political reformer, she outlined her commitment to sanitizing the political space and reforming electoral processes to ensure the election of true, capable, and competent leaders.

“I like to call myself a political reformer. That means I would like to sanitize the political space and try to bring about reform in the electoral processes so that we would be able to elect leaders that are true, capable and competent,” she stated.

Recall On October 31, 2023, Natasha was officially declared the winner of the Kogi Central senatorial poll after successfully challenging her closest rival, Mr. Abubakar Ohere of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in both the Tribunal and the Appeal Court.

Ohere’s victory was later overturned due to electoral irregularities during the poll, making Natasha the first and only female Senator in Kogi.
