I Live In Rented Apartment In Abuja — Says Dangote; Reveals Focus on Nigeria’s Industrialization

Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has disclosed that the residence he uses when in Nigeria’s capital, Abuja, is a rented property.

Dangote made this revelation during a media parley at the Dangote Petroleum Refinery in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State, on Sunday.

Dangote explained that his commitment to the industrialization of Nigeria is the main reason he does not own homes outside the country.

He mentioned that he previously had a house in London but sold it in 1996 to remain focused on his industrial goals in Nigeria.

Dangote stated, “The reason I don’t have a London or America house is solely because I wanted to focus on industrialization in Nigeria.

“I figured that if I had those houses, there will be one reason or the other for me to visit those places thereby causing distraction for me.

“I am very passionate about the Nigeria dream and apart from my Lagos house, I have another one in my home state Kano and a rented one in Abuja,” he added.

Speaking further, the Group Executive Director of Commercial Operations, Fatima Dangote, praised her father’s dedication to the Nigerian dream.

She said, “I have not seen anyone as hardworking as my father; sometimes I wonder how he never gives up. I wish we had a few more men like my father in Nigeria, the country would be a better place.”
