I Sacrificed my Political Career for Biafra—Simon Ekpa

Biafra activist Simon Ekpa has claimed that he sacrificed his political career in Finland to focus on the Biafra agitation.

Ekpa, who serves as the Prime Minister of the Biafra Republic Government In-Exile (BRGIE), made this statement on Thursday via his official X account.

He emphasized that, for years, his primary focus has been the pursuit of Biafra’s self-determination.

According to him, nothing holds greater importance than the liberation of Biafra from what he describes as the Nigerian government’s marginalization of the region.

“I have decided not to take part in the coming election and focus on Biafra Liberation in Finland.

“I have served my people, community and region since 2012,” he stated.

Ekpa had previously announced that Biafra would be declared on December 2, 2024.

This declaration comes amid his ongoing criticism of the Nigerian government, despite facing an extradition plan.

In July 2021, the Nigerian government rearrested Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), and he remains in custody despite numerous calls for his release.
