“I Won’t Join Politics Even If You Offer Me $1 Billion; It Is Not My Calling,” Says Bishop Oyedepo

Presiding Bishop of Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, has reiterated that he has no interest in partisan politics, insisting that he would reject political involvement even if offered $1 billion.

The 71-year-old cleric made the statement while addressing worshippers at the church’s annual Shiloh gathering, where he urged members to remain focused on their “divine assignments”.

“Partisan politics is off my calling. Even if you give me one billion dollars to join politics, I won’t, because it is not my course,” Oyedepo said.

He charged members of the church to make meaningful impact in society, describing believers as part of what he called “God’s end-time army”.

According to him, the world is in darkness but eagerly awaiting the manifestation of God’s children, referencing Romans 8:19.

“The army of God is about to emerge to provide solutions to national crises in the order of Joseph and Daniel. This is the season of what eyes have not seen and ears have not heard,” he added.

Oyedepo’s comments are consistent with his long-standing position on political office.

At a leadership summit in 2022, the cleric described the prospect of becoming Nigeria’s president as a demotion, maintaining that his calling is for global impact rather than political power.

“I believe in Nigeria and that is why I am still here, praying for the nation. But I consider it a demotion if I am invited to become the president of Nigeria. I was called for a global impact,” he had said.

He further recounted that his sense of purpose was established early in life, noting that he encountered his destiny at the age of 19 and has remained committed to serving God since 1976.
