I Won’t Tolerate Bribery, Corruption—New CJN Kekere-Ekun

The newly appointed Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, has declared a zero-tolerance policy for corruption during her tenure.

“All pre-election matters will terminate at the Court of Appeal. I have zero tolerance for corruption,” she said.

Kekere-Ekun made this statement on Wednesday after the Senate confirmed her as the substantive Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN).

Her confirmation came after Bola Ahmed Tinubu submitted a request to the Senate. She had been serving in an acting capacity since August, following the retirement of her predecessor, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola.

Accompanied by other Justices from the Supreme Court and Court of Appeal, she arrived at the Senate chamber at 12:30 PM.

The screening lasted approximately two hours, during which senators posed questions regarding judicial reforms. Justice Kekere-Ekun emphasized her commitment to utilizing technology to expedite the delivery of justice in the country.
