If You’re Bankrupt of Ideas, Seek Help Before It’s Too Late—LP Advises Tinubu

The Labour Party (LP) has called upon Chief Bola Tinubu to seek assistance in addressing the escalating cost of living and hardships in the country before they spiral out of control.

Expressing deep concern, the party highlighted the plight of millions of Nigerians grappling with food shortages since the beginning of the year.

Moreover, the LP urged Tinubu to intervene and discourage his aides from making provocative and insensitive remarks that could offend the average Nigerian.

This plea was conveyed in a statement released on Monday by Obiora Ifoh, LP’s National Publicity Secretary.

The opposition party emphasized that Tinubu and his team must acknowledge their depletion of viable solutions and seek external support, recognizing that no amount of propaganda can conceal the growing number of Nigerians slipping below the poverty line.

The LP deplored the sharp rise in prices of essential commodities such as rice, garri, flour, and protein since January, noting a prevailing sense of despair nationwide.

Moreover, the party underscored the alarming consequences, including escalating crime rates among youths and a surge in suicide cases.

Ifoh said that “it is either that the government is bereft of ideas on how to check this unfolding catastrophe or that it chose to continue to act as if it is still campaigning for office,” insisting it is no time for politics.

“You can’t run a governance based on a whim. The economic turmoil we are suffering today is a result of this poor sense of judgement. Sadly, amidst all of these, the All Progressives Congress administration has increased its spending on the lavish lifestyles of its elected officials, and corruption among government officials has never been worse,” the statement partly read.
