Tinubu Will Fail and Nigeria Will Heal After 2027 — Ife Salako Slams Shehu Sani’s Recycled Lies and Excuses from Buhari Era

The former Labour Party spokesperson in Lagos, Ife Salako, has said Bola Tinubu will lose the 2027 presidential election and that Nigeria will only begin to recover once he returns to his home in Bourdillon.

Salako was reacting to a recent comment by former senator Shehu Sani, who warned that if Tinubu fails, it would become difficult for any future president to succeed in Nigeria.

In a post shared with a screenshot of an old report where Sani said Nigerians would revolt if Buhari failed, Salako accused the former lawmaker of repeating the same defence used during Buhari’s administration.

“All the lies they used in defending Buhari’s failures are being used to defend Tinubu’s colossal failures,” he wrote.

He added, “Once Tinubu loses in 2027, all these same people will start blaming him for destroying Nigeria.”

“Tinubu will lose the 2027 election and return to Bourdillon, and Nigeria will begin to get better,” Salako declared.

Sani’s post, shared by his media centre, quoted him as saying, “If President Tinubu fails, it will be very difficult for any future president to succeed in Nigeria.”

The comment drew sharp criticism from Nigerians online, who accused Sani and other former Buhari supporters of attempting to protect Tinubu using the same rhetoric.

@SeaJustified wrote that good governance is not rocket science, pointing to Abia State as an example of leadership without excuses.

@Ophacy said those who fought for democracy with the current political class “would be turning in their graves”.

Some commenters claimed Sani was defending Tinubu for personal gains, accusing him of seeking future appointments or diplomatic positions.

Others argued that the political elite were repeating the same tactics because they believed Nigerians were too tolerant and forgetful.

Several users insisted that 2027 should be a turning point, with one stating, “Come 2027, it’s Peter Obi or nothing.”

The backlash reflects growing public dissatisfaction with Tinubu’s leadership, rising economic hardship, and what many see as a continued pattern of shielding those in power from accountability.

Salako’s comments have intensified an ongoing debate over whether Tinubu, like Buhari, is being protected by political allies at the expense of citizens demanding better governance.
