In a dazzling display of tennis prowess, Iga Swiatek has carved her path to the WTA Finals title match, leaving Aryna Sabalenka in her wake during a rain-interrupted semifinal.
The thrilling encounter unfolded under the Cancun, Mexico, sky.
The 22-year-old Polish sensation, Swiatek, showcased her formidable talent, dispatching world No. 1 Sabalenka with a decisive 6-3, 6-2 victory.
Iga Swiatek command of the baseline was unyielding, outpacing Sabalenka’s powerful shots and tallying more winners, 16-13, while committing less than half as many unforced errors, 23-10.

Awaiting her in the final showdown is the fifth-seeded American, Jessica Pegula.
Both players have remained undefeated during round-robin play, dominating all eight sets they’ve contested on the outdoor hard court in Cancun.
Swiatek enters Monday’s final riding a wave of a 10-match winning streak, while Pegula is hot on her heels with nine consecutive wins.
A win against Pegula would catapult Swiatek from No. 2 back to the pinnacle she occupied from April 2022 to September, before Sabalenka claimed the throne.
