Aloy Ejimakor, the lead counsel for Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has condemned the ‘#IgboMustGo’ agitation, labeling it as a direct incitement of terrorism and genocide.
In a statement shared on his official X handle, Ejimakor criticized the movement, which aims to force Igbos to leave Lagos State, and called on the Nigerian government to halt what he described as the unfair trial of Kanu.
He also urged the release of Kanu and all prisoners of conscience.
Ejimakor emphasised that while ‘#IgboMustGo’ promotes violence and hatred, self-determination does not.
He urged authorities to take action, stating,“FACT: #IgboMustGo is a direct & clear incitement of terrorism & genocide. #SelfDetermination is not.
“Halt the #UnfairTrial and #FreeMNK & all prisoners of conscience. It’s simply the right thing to do & it’s long overdue. Vox Populi, Vox Dei.”
The ‘#IgboMustGo’ movement gained attention when a user on X announced plans for a protest to expel Igbos from Lagos State, scheduled to take place from August 20 to 30.
In response, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu condemned the proposed protest and called for unity among all residents.
