In light of the growing insecurity and kidnapping cases on the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun has ordered the deployment of more police officers to man the route with the aim of boosting safety in the area.
This development was made public on Thursday by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi. He stated, “Recognizing the paramount importance of securing this critical transportation artery, the IGP has intensified deployments of police officers and security paraphernalia, leveraging advanced technology and strategic resources to bolster the overall security infrastructure along the route.”
The IGP, while instructing DIG Operations, DIG Ede Ayuba Ekpeji, to strictly supervise the personnel assigned for operations along the route, reiterated that this proactive step aims to reassure citizens and travellers of their safety, as the increased presence of security forces in the region will act as a deterrent to criminal activities.
“The IGP emphasised the need for collaboration between various security agencies and concerned communities in the region,” Adejobi added.
He urged public vigilance and cooperation with security, highlighting the importance of collective effort for everyone’s safety. He reassured that enhanced security measures are part of a commitment to a peaceful environment.
