This move is part of the ongoing efforts to bolster security measures, combat violent crimes, and streamline police operations nationwide.

The appointments, revealed through a dispatch signal seen by DAILY POST, include the redeployment of seven senior police officers to various commands, effective immediately.

IGP Egbetokun stressed the importance of professional competence as he charged the newly appointed Commissioners of Police (CPs) with their responsibilities.

Notably, CP Olatunji Disu, the newly appointed head in Rivers State, takes on the role previously held by CP Nwonyi Emeka.

The reshuffle follows recent accusations by Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State, who claimed that certain police officers attempted to harm him during his assessment of the State House of Assembly’s damage after an explosion.

This appointment comes only seven months after CP Disu’s promotion to the rank of Commissioner of Police and his subsequent role as the principal staff leading and coordinating the security team attached to the IGP’s office.

The changes in leadership aim to address security concerns, optimize coordination, and strengthen the overall effectiveness of police operations in the country.
