On Thursday, the acting Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, decorated 12 Assistant Inspectors General of Police and 19 Commissioners of Police with their new ranks.
The event was held at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
The force’s spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, disclosed in a statement provided to reporters that “The IGP, in his address, charged the promoted officers to continue to exhibit the core values of service, sacrifice, and selflessness in the discharge of their duties. He also commended their dedication and hard work, which has earned them these well-deserved promotions.
“He noted that the newly decorated officers have demonstrated exceptional commitment to maintaining law and order in their respective duty posts, and as such, the new ranks symbolize their added responsibilities and the trust placed in them to continue leading by example.
“The Inspector General of Police congratulates all the promoted officers and encourages them to redouble their efforts in service to our great nation.
“He also appreciates the Police Service Commission for their thorough and objective evaluation of the officers’ performances, assuring improved collaborative efforts to deepen excellence and uphold the NPF’s duty to serve and protect the people of Nigeria,” it concluded.
The promotion of the 31 AIGs and CPs, as well as 5,687 other devoted senior officers within the Nigeria Police Force, was approved by the Police Service Commission, according to the Force Headquarters.
The twelve former CPs who have been awarded as All-Imperial Guards (AIGs) are: Godwin Aghaulor, Effiom Ekot, Stanley Ude, Longe Patrick, Ndu Anene, Ogundele Ayodeji, Patrick Edung, Badru Lawal, Bartholomew Onyeka, Suleiman Yusuf, Idowu Owohunwa, and Rhoda Olofu.
Governors of the states of Abia, Akwa Ibom, Edo, Kogi, and Lagos, as well as IG Usman Baba (retd.) and his wife, Dame Patience Ebele Jonathan, a senator from Kogi Central, and members of the Force Management Team, were present at the event.
