Governor of River State, Sim Fubara has declared his readiness to step down from office in a bid to restore peace to the State.
The longstanding feud between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who currently serves as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has defied resolution despite intervention attempts by Chief Bola Tinubu.
Addressing the issue in an interview with AIT, Governor Fubara affirmed his commitment to the success of the administration, emphasising that no sacrifice would be too big for the well-being of the state.
He revealed that his decision to potentially resign is not driven by political motives or personal gain but stems from genuine love and concern for the millions of people in Rivers State who have endured sacrifices.
Fubara stated, “No sacrifice will be too big for me to pay for the success of this administration.
“The reason is very simple: it is not political love. It is not because I want to gain any favour from anybody. My interest and love for our dear state are genuine.”
Governor Fubara clarified that if resigning from his position would bring more peace to the state, he is willing to do so.
“I am the governor. No matter what it is, there are things I could have done, and there would have been a total crisis, but the ability to restrain in the face of crisis when you have the power to do things is maturity,” he articulated.
