There’s Always Time for Everything in Life, I’m Supposed to Have Retired From Music — Rudeboy

Singer Paul Okoye, also known as Rudeboy, has revealed that he and his peers are supposed to have retired from music by now.

Speaking on the Adesope Live show, the 45-year-old artist reflected on the changing dynamics of the music industry, noting that in the past, musicians did not remain active for long.

He stated, “In the old ways of doing music, by now people like us suppose don retire.

“There’s always a time for everything in life. Things will always happen. If you are a celebrity and you think people will always see you like an angel, trust me you’re not going anywhere. There are times that something would be against you. It’s always like that.

“Every top artist has had their share of criticisms and scandals. Even the up-and-coming ones, too, will suffer the same fate someday. It’s a normal thing [in the entertainment industry]. But what matters is your personality and how you handle issues,” he added.

Rudeboy, who gained fame in the 2000s as part of the P-Square duo with his twin brother Peter Okoye, acknowledged the challenges of balancing family life with a music career.

He emphasised that celebrities often face criticisms and scandals, a reality that even up-and-coming artists will encounter.

The P-Square duo initially split in 2016 but reunited in 2021. However, Rudeboy confirmed in August 2024 that the group had disbanded again following allegations from Peter Okoye about financial mismanagement involving Rudeboy and their elder brother, Jude Okoye.
