INEC: Gov Uzodimma Secures Re-election with 540,308 Votes

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially declared Senator Hope Uzodimma of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the re-elected Governor of Imo State.

The announcement came from the INEC Chief Returning Officer for Imo and Vice Chancellor of Federal University, Uyo, Ekiti State, Prof. Abayomi Fasina, who disclosed the election results on Sunday morning.

Senator Uzodimma clinched victory with a total of 540,308 votes, reaffirming the support he garnered from the electorate. The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, secured a distant second place with 71,503 votes

Other candidates in the gubernatorial race included Senator Athan Achonu from the Labour Party, who gathered 64,081 votes, and APGA’s Tony Ejiogu and AA Jack Ogunewe scoring 6,392 and 5,756 votes, respectively.

Prof. Fasina, in his capacity as the INEC Returning Officer, declared Uzodimma as the winner, stating, “I thereby declare Uzodimma winner of the Imo state governorship election, having satisfied the requirement of the law. He is hereby declared the winner and returned elected.”

The election results reflect the diverse choices made by the people of Imo State in determining their leader for the next term.
