Human right lawyer, Inibehe Effiong has criticized Nigerian police for diverting attention to frivolous matters instead of focusing on tackling crime in Nigeria.
Effiong’s statement comes following the saga between the Nigerian police and the convener of RevolutionNow, Omoyele Sowore.
In a post shared on his official X handle, he stated that the Nigeria Police Force is a disgraceful and shameless institution.
His post reads,”I just read the entire seventeen count charges filed against Sowore over comments he allegedly made against the Inspector General of Police.

“The Nigeria Police Force is a disgraceful and shameless institution.Instead of focusing on tackling crime, they are indulging in embarrassing comedy.”
Sowore, was summoned via a police invitation letter dated January 23, 2025.
He was later detained after rejecting the “illegal” bail conditions set by the police over his exposé on officers allegedly extorting motorists along Ikeja, Lagos State.
The letter accused him of various offences, including resisting and obstructing public officers, disobedience to lawful orders, and cyber stalking.
