Human rights activist Aisha Yesufu has questioned whether the Nigerian police operates as a criminal enterprise or a legitimate agency.
Yesufu’s outburst comes following series of death, extortion perpetrated by the Nigerian police under the Bola Tinubu led administration.
Recall that on Sunday, a 21-year-old man was reportedly shot by officers of the Nigerian Police at the FO1 Kubwa Sokale checkpoint in Abuja after allegedly refusing to pay a N200,000 bribe.
On November 8, three police officers allegedly beat a Kwara State University (KWASU) student to death at the Tanke Bridge in Ilorin, Kwara State.
On November 4, a soldier and four other persons lost their lives during a clash with a police constabulary in Agyaragu, Obi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, on Sunday

On November 3, a police officer from the Otuocha Area Command in Anambra East Local Government Area, Anambra State, reportedly killed a man at their checkpoint over disagreement involving a sum of N100.
Similarly on the same November 3, a tragic accident claimed the life of 35-year-old Patience Ashenenye when a police officer reportedly crashed into the commercial motorcycle she was riding with her three-month-old son killing them.
This has left Nigerian citizens with disturbing thoughts, as the police, who are meant to protect them, are the ones killing them. #Yesufu
