The Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists have attacked a Christian-majority village in Adamawa State, setting it on fire and issuing a threat against Christians across Nigeria.
The incident was shared on X, formerly Twitter, by OSINT journalist and counter-insurgency expert Philip Brant, who covers the Lake Chad region.
He posted images of the burning village alongside a statement from ISWAP declaring that Christians are “legitimate targets” and must either convert to Islam or pay a jizyah tax to be spared.
The attack reflects the continued threat posed by ISWAP in northeastern Nigeria, where the group has sustained operations against civilian communities.
The images circulated online show buildings engulfed in flames, underscoring the scale of destruction inflicted during the assault and raising fresh concerns over the safety of vulnerable communities in the region.
The development has drawn condemnation from human rights organisations, who are calling on the Nigerian government and security agencies to take urgent action.
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has repeatedly warned that persistent attacks on religious communities deepen insecurity and displacement, urging stronger protection measures and accountability for extremist violence.
