Human rights lawyer Inibehe Effiong has reiterated that a situation whereby terrorists have the leisure to move about in large groups at will without any hindrance is a damning remark on the commitment of the Nigerian government to prosecute the war against terror.
In a short post on X, Effiong suggested that no government worthy to be so-called should be comfortable with these terrorists activists.
According to him, the inability of the Nigerian military apparatus to enact measures necessary to secure and protect communities from criminal violence, particularly kidnapping and terrorism is unconscionable, even inconceivable

“I reject the idea that these silly terrorists will be this emboldened if the government doesn’t support or tolerate them.
I refuse to accept that Armed Forces of Nigeria is not capable of exterminating these criminals.”
The impact of government’s response to the ongoing terrorism, banditry, pogrom, and kidnapping in Northern Nigeria and elsewhere remains low and disheartening.
Despite the yearly humongous budgetary security allocations, the crisis is ballooning rather than abating.
The military campaign also looks more like racketeering than a real fight – the numerous successful ambushes of military personnel and attacks on military bases strongly suggest that there are insurgents or bandit sympathisers within the military and, by extension, the government.
