Israel Destroys Most Important Military Sites in Syria

A war monitor reported on Tuesday that Israel has “destroyed the most significant military sites in Syria” through a series of intense airstrikes following the fall of President Bashar al-Assad’s government.

After Assad’s ousting, Israel deployed troops to a buffer zone east of the Israeli-annexed Golan Heights.

Foreign Minister Gideon Saar characterized the move as a “limited and temporary measure” taken for “security reasons.”

Near the port city of Latakia, Israeli strikes hit an air defense facility, damaging Syrian naval vessels and military warehouses. In and around the capital, Damascus, the attacks targeted military installations, research centers, and the electronic warfare administration.

Early Tuesday, AFP journalists reported hearing loud explosions in Damascus, occurring hours after the strikes were reported by the Observatory.
