A ceasefire between Israel and Hamas will take effect at 08:30am (06:30 GMT) on Sunday, according to Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson.
The announcement came after a meeting between Israeli officials, which led to the ratification of the agreement early on Saturday morning.
The agreement marks a significant development after more than 460 days of conflict, in which over 46,000 Palestinians have been killed and more than 110,000 have been wounded.
The ceasefire deal includes the release of 33 captives held in Gaza over the next six weeks, with a second phase of negotiations planned to secure the release of additional prisoners, including male soldiers.
The spokesperson, Majed al-Ansari, urged people in Gaza to exercise caution and await further instructions from official sources as the ceasefire is set to begin.
