In a declaration, Israel’s Prime Minister assured the world that the fight against Hamas in Gaza would persist for “many more months.” Despite international calls for a ceasefire, Israeli forces continue to unleash devastating strikes.
The latest onslaught, centered in central Gaza, claimed the lives of at least 35 people on Sunday, intensifying the conflict across the besieged enclave. The military’s commitment to the prolonged campaign became evident as thousands of Israeli soldiers are withdrawn from the Gaza Strip, signaling a notable shift in tactics.
Army spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari affirmed the troop movement, stating, “Some of the reservists will return to their families and work this week. This will allow considerable relief for the economy, and will allow them to gather strength for the next activity in the coming year, and the fighting will continue, and we will still need them.”
As the Biden administration approved an emergency weapons sale to Israel, signaling continued support, Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s impending visit looms over the conflict. The drawdown suggests a potential reduction in fighting, especially in the northern half of Gaza, where operational control is nearing.
Yet, fierce clashes persist in areas like Khan Younis and central Gaza. Israel remains resolute in its objectives, vowing to dismantle Hamas, which has governed Gaza for 16 years. With over 21,800 casualties in Gaza, including 8,000 claimed militants, the region remains entrenched in conflict as Israel pushes forward, unwavering in its pursuit.
