In a brazen attack on Friday, the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) targeted the Gubio Police Divisional Office in Borno State, leaving one police inspector dead and absconding with a police vehicle.
The assault, reported by counter-insurgency expert and Lake Chad security analyst, Zagazola Makama, unfolded as gunmen, arriving in two Hilux vehicles and multiple motorcycles, opened fire indiscriminately on the police facility.
According to Makama’s post on X, the assailants engaged in a fierce confrontation with the police at the divisional office.

Sources on the ground confirmed the tragic loss of a police inspector who valiantly fought against the terrorists.
The attackers successfully escaped with one operational police vehicle, adding to the aftermath of the assault.
